When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place…
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit...
and that day about three thousand persons were added.
(Acts 2:1)
it is for great encouragement to our parish to join this global wave of prayer "THY KINGDOM COME". It is great to for our church community to be able to cover 24 hours of prayers. We hope and expecting during this time of prayer, eyes would open, hearts would soften and be wormed, habits would shift, faith would expand, love for each other and for the poor would increase, spiritual apatite and hunger for God and His kingdom would deepen and God's Kingdom would come in our the midst of individual lives, church community and the world around us.
prayer is the most central because it ushers us into a deep communion with our Father in heaven.
We all need to pray, as prayer fulfils a deep need within us, a need to live in relationship of love and trust with God.
John Wesley said “God does nothing but in answer to prayer”. nevertheless it is not easy for many of us to keep prayer as a holy habit in their life. The disciples asked Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). It is liberating to all of us to see the disciples asking such request, and to realise that prayer involved a learning process. therefore we are set free to question, to experiment, even to fail, for we are in learning process. more we pray more we grew mature in our prayer life.
We offer this space here to share few ideas, hoping that it could be helpful during our time of prayer.
it is only ideas and feel free to use it creatively. these following ideas and even more you can find them

2022 Reflections on 1Peter by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby
Introduction
In the days between Ascension and Pentecost, it has been the habit of many Christians, for many centuries, to make the focus of our prayers the same as those first believers. Christ’s last instruction to His disciples on the day of His Ascension is to ‘wait for the gift my Father promised’ (Acts 1:4).
12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives… 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying... 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. Acts 1:12-14
The instruction to wait for the Holy Spirit is so important because without the Spirit’s empowering presence, it is impossible to be a faithful witness to Christ. We need this gift of the Father to be the people Christ is calling us to be. The Spirit then isn’t for some private experience, but for the sake of our life for Christ in the world.
Thy Kingdom Come encourages each of us to hold five specific people in mind in these days; so that the gift of the Father would work through us for their sake, but also would touch their own lives. I encourage you now to spend a few moments discerning who you might specifically pray for in these days, and maybe write their names opposite in the space provided.
This Novena seeks to enable you in your waiting for the gift the Father promised, by focusing on nine particular verses in the first letter of St Peter – one of those present in that upper room. Each day we will take one of those verses and seek to be shaped by it. 1 Peter is one of my favourite books, and provides the themes for the Lambeth Conference this summer. It’s a book which opens our hearts to God and lifts our eyes to the worldwide family of God.
I am so grateful to Anna Heslop who has created the most stunning images to go with the verse for each day. I pray that these words and pictures together open up space for you to wait for the gift the Father has promised.

1- The Father's Character
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name’
An invitation to connect with God as the perfect father
Consider what it means to you for God to be the perfect Father. The Lord’s Prayer invites us to speak directly to God as Father, and we are invited to be a part of His family.
Think of all the names for God you’ve heard. If you need inspiration why not read:
Genesis 21:33, Exodus 3:14, Judges 6:24, Deuteronomy 7:9, Deuteronomy 10:17, Isaiah 5:16,
Psalm 136:26, Isaiah 7:14 & John 8:58.
Which name do you most use when speaking to God?
What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us’ (A.W. Tozer).
How often do you use the name ‘Father’?
How does your identity as God’s child affect the way you approach Him now?

2- The Father's Kingdom
‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven’
An opportunity to reflect on what it means to acknowledge God as king.
Pray this line, acknowledging that God is king over the whole world, and asking him to be at work in your life, our parish and community and the world, and in any particular situations known to you.
Write your name in the centre of a sheet of paper. Surround it with the people, situations and places
that you want God to move in. Include anything that has been worrying you.
• Ask God to teach you to pray in His will for His kingdom in each of these situations.
• Make a paper aeroplane out of what you’ve written and as you throw it across the room thank God that
He has your whole life and all your requests in His hands.

3- The Father's Provision
‘Give us today our daily bread’
An opportunity to thank God for his provision
You might want to set at the table and to eat bread or biscuits. As you do so, think about the things that God has provided for you, and thank him for the things he has given you.

4- The Father's Forgiveness
‘Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us’
An invitation to accept God’s forgiveness
Here is a space where you can write your own ‘sorry’ prayers to God on a small piece of paper, before crumpling it in your hand and throwing it in the bin, to symbolise God getting rid of our sin when he forgives us. Also you might include writing our parish ‘sorry’, our community ‘’sorry’, and our nation ‘sorry’ and ask God forgiveness
Think back through your last 24 hours, the things you’ve done, the people you’ve met...
Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight things you’ve done wrong.
Next ask the Holy Spirit to show you times you should have acted and did not.
Write everything that has come to mind on a piece of paper. As you say sorry, tear up the sheet of paper and
throw it into the bin or feed it through the shredder. Thank God for forgiving you.
Is there someone you need to forgive today? Ask God to show you who.

5- The Father's Guidance
‘And lead us not into temptation'
An opportunity to reflect on God’s leading us through life and His protection
You might want to walk where you are and to think about what it means to allow God to order your steps,
leading you along the pathways you should follow, rather than those that are easy or most appealing.

6- The Father's Protection
'but deliver us from evil’
An opportunity to reflect on God’s mightiness and protection over you and your life
You might want to set covering yourself with a soft material, remembering who God is and the protection he has promised you. use this time to let go your worries and fears by allowing God's hand to take them.

Praying for others
Praying for others to know Jesus is one of the most powerful things we can do; persistent prayer for others brings transformation to their lives. Choose five people you would regularly like to pray for. If you’re not sure who to pray for, ask God to guide you as you choose. Here are some easy ways to pray for those five people regularly. Choose the one that suits you best:
1. PIECE OF STRING
Take a piece of string or cord, and tie five knots in it to represent each of the five people you have committed to pray for. You could carry the knotted string in your pocket, tie it round your wrist or place it somewhere that you’ll see it regularly. Use the knots to remind you to pray for each person on your list of five.
2. SMALL STONES
Find five small stones (light coloured ones are best) and write the names onto the stones. Place them on your desk, bedside table or fireplace as a reminder to pray. Alternatively, you could place each stone in a different room of your home and pray for each person as you enter or leave the room.
3. PRAYER ALERTS
Add your list of five people to the alerts section of your phone and set reminders to pray for them. You could choose one name per day, or pray for all five across your day. Remember to set alerts for a suitable time where you can stop to pray for your list.
4. POST-IT NOTES
Use five post-it notes and write one name onto each. Stick them onto your mirror, above your bed or somewhere that you’ll see them regularly and will be reminded to pray.
