OUR VISION:
We are a vibrant, living church for Old Windsor, welcoming all  in faith, hope and love

Picture

Introduction

As a Christian community we are essentially called to "Be" before we "Do" anything.
Our vision is “Being With” in 3 dimensions:
Up (God), In (Each Other) and Out (The Wider Community).
Our aspiration is to continually grow in these three directions together.

Our vision is like a tree supplied by three deep roots.
being with God, being together, and being out.
It's like the heart, the body, and the hand of being human.

We find our "IDENTITY" in being with God (UP),
understanding who we are as individuals and as a community. We nourish this relationship with God through regular worship, prayer, reflection, and studying the word of God.

Our "CONTEXT" is found in being with each other (IN),
We believe that Christian life is a community project, as our God is a community (TRINITY),
and living within a loving community becomes the true environment for us to be a church. We value diversity, unity, and serving one another as a reflection of God's love.

Our "ORIENTATION" in toward being with the wider community (OUT).
We are grateful for God's love, and it compels us to love and serve others.

We see ourselves as a servant community, engaging with the world around us, and participating in God's mission of love.

This vision is not a task to complete but a journey to travel together,
Every day, we are more with God, more together as a community, and more toward our our community and the world, yet still more to be.
This inexhaustible vision keeps us humble, dependant on God's grace
and saves us from complacency that leads to stagnation.
There is more to "Be" every day,
it is a life-long journey with God, each other and the world around us.

We are delighted to witness and celebrate signs of growth among us along this journey,
and we look forward to welcoming new people who want to join us on the road.

Come and be a part of
being with God, being together, and being for the world.

Being with God
"Christ-Like"

† Being with God is where we find our true "Identity" as individuals and as a community. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord of every aspect of our lives, not just within the confines of the church building. Our aim is to live out His lordship in our everyday lives. We nurture our relationship with God through regular worship, prayer, reflection, and studying His word.

† We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to our world and became one of us to reconcile us with God. He calls us to follow His example and be like Him. Everything He did, He did for us and as us. When we respond to His call to be like Him, we embrace our true purpose and vocation.

† That's why our worship gathering is at the very heart of our church community. We worship God our Father in heaven, in His Son, by His Holy Spirit, and through word (the Bible) and sacrament
(Eucharist).
Our worship is a response to God's boundless love for us. In our worship, we encounter Him and experience transformation as we become more and more like Jesus Christ, growing from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18).

† To deepen our journey in becoming Christ-like, we are committed to nurturing our personal devotional life. This includes reading the Bible reflectively, prayer, and serving one another. These disciplines by God's grace allow us to encounter God and undergo the transformative process of becoming more like Jesus Christ. Our motivation for all of this goes beyond a sense of duty. It stems from the joy of having a loving relationship with God. We respond to His love for us with love in return.
We are committed to grow in being with God, rooting ourselves in Christ, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into Christ likeness.

Being with Each Other
"COMMUNITY"

† We worship God who, according to the Christian faith, exists as a community within Himself as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, yet remains one God. Therefore, the Christian life is inherently communal, and living within a community is the essential context for us to truly embody and represent the Church of this triune God. We depend on one another to faithfully follow and reflect the nature of our God, who is a TRINITY.

† While God's incredible love has personally called us into a relationship with Him, the purpose of this redemptive call is to provide a family for those who feel lonely (Psalm 68:6) and to gather together the scattered children of God (John 11:52). In His Son, God has called us to live in a fellowship that is built upon love, unity, and mutual service. This fellowship carries both a unique glory and responsibility. True community cannot exist without humility and seeking first the well-being of others.

† We are not a community of identical individuals, but rather we embrace and celebrate our diversity. Each member of our Christian community possesses inherent value, uniqueness, and gifts that reflect God's image in distinct and meaningful ways.

† Despite our unity, we do not isolate ourselves as an exclusive and closed-off community. Instead, our openness towards one another serves as the solid foundation for embracing and welcoming people from other communities. We recognize that we live in a world where communal life is increasingly rare, and our receptivity to others outside our community is crucial.
We are called to be with each other, forming a prophetic community that exemplifies a life that inspires the wider community to embrace communal living.
Together, we are wholeheartedly committed to this way of life.

Being with the wider community "MISSIONAL"

† We have deep gratitude towards God, who lavishes His love upon us. This divine love alone has the power to liberate us from our self-centred existence, enabling us to love others.

† We recognize the constant need to position ourselves beneath the cascading fountain of the Father's unfailing love, flowing into our lives through the Son and by the Spirit. There, we immerse ourselves in love until it overflows, reaching every corner of our broken world and embracing all of creation.

† As a Christian community, we are a servant community at heart, existing not for our own sake, but to serve others. Following the example of our God, we willingly engage with His creation, participating in its restoration and redemption.

† We firmly believe that God has an extraordinary purpose for the people he created. He guides the course of history towards a promised future—a future in which He saves and redeems all that He has brought into existence. His kingdom, characterized by love, peace, and justice, will be fully established among us. He initiates the renewal of all things (Revelation 21:5), fashioning a new earth and a new heaven where He will dwell with His people (Revelation 21:3) as their eternal King and shepherd.

† With unwavering hope, we anticipate God's ultimate triumph in fulfilling His eternal purpose. It is our privilege and honour to join Him as partners in His great mission until the day when Christ returns to bring about the complete fulfilment of all things.
By heeding the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are driven to actively participate in God’s mission of love. Our desire is to continually align ourselves with the needs and concerns of the wider community, both in Old Windsor and throughout the world. We strive to cultivate greater sensitivity and approachability, making ourselves more readily available to serve and connect with others.
